Upper Hutt City Council confirms its plans for the next 10 years

The Long Term Plan 2018 – 2028 was adopted by elected members on 27 June 2018 and sets the blueprint for exciting improvements to the city.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 02 JUL 2018—Upper Hutt’s Mayor and councillors adopted the Long Term Plan 2018 – 2028 (LTP) on 27 June 2018. The LTP is a strategic document that sets out Council’s direction for the next decade. The projects, activities and services Council will invest in and deliver to the community are guided by our vision: Life. Leisure. Live it!

“We’ve been developing this LTP to advance our strategic direction, maintain levels of service, and ensure our infrastructure is fit for purpose,” says Upper Hutt Mayor Wayne Guppy. “We are investing wisely in the city, and have adopted 11 of the 13 projects we consulted on. Many of these new projects focus on lifestyle opportunities that our community values highly.”

Council is pleased that community engagement in March and April set a new standard of feedback for a long term plan. With a record 377 submissions received, 82% supported the overall direction in the LTP. Council would like to thank the Upper Hutt community for their involvement in developing a plan that will help realise our vision, build our resilience, and keep our growing city running smoothly.

The 10 year plan allocates $241 million in capital investment, including major upgrades to H2O Xtream aquatic centre and Maidstone Max, extending Expressions Whirinaki, a new community hub, expanding the walking and cycling network, ongoing development of the Maidstone Sports Hub, replacement of the Silverstream Bridge, and the Pinehaven Stream stormwater upgrade.
