Matariki planting finale

This Friday, Mayor Phil Goff will welcome over 800 volunteers to Manukau’s Puhinui Reserve for the final Matariki planting event as part of his Million Trees programme.

Together, Auckland Council and MPI will plant over 50,000 native plants at the southern end of Puhinui Reserve, including 12,000 kahikateas as a living memorial to NZDF personnel past, present and future.

NZDF, Auckland Airport, the Department of Corrections, Trees That Count, local youth groups, schools, Brownies, Papatoetoe Fire Crew, RSAs, and Scout troops have signed up to take part in the planting event.

When: 9am - 12pm, Friday 27 July
