SH1 through Brynderwyns reopens after truck crash

TRAFFIC BULLETIN

22 August 2018 | AUCKLAND & NORTHLAND

The NZ Transport Agency advises that State Highway 1 through the Brynderwyns Hills has re-opened to all traffic.

The main route to Northland was closed just before 7am this morning after a fully laden fuel tanker and a car crashed on the south side, blocking the road in both directions.

The fuel has to be removed from the tanker before it was shifted off the road.
Detours were put in place but were not suitable for heavy vehicles, so dozens of trucks parked up and waited for the road to reopen.
The trucks were all let through in the last half hour and the road is now open to all traffic.

The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience and understanding while the road was closed.
