Shaping our Future working to organise a community forum
Shaping our Future working with the Frankton Community
Association and QLDC to facilitate a Community Forum on
Frankton
Shaping our Future is teaming up with
the Frankton Community Association and QLDC to facilitate a
Community Forum to inform the wider Frankton
Masterplan.
The QLDC Frankton Masterplan includes the area from the Marina on Frankton Road to the Shotover River and down to the Kawarau River.
Shaping our Future Deputy Chair and Frankton resident Esther Whitehead said “For many of us Frankton is home - the place we live, work and play. It is also the gateway to Queenstown via road or air and provides commercial, retail, education, health and recreational options for not only Frankton residents but the wider district and our visitors.”
“As a community it is important that we discuss what we love about Frankton, what we think the challenges are and what we would like Frankton to be like in the future – not just next year but in 10, 20 or 30yrs.”
“Earlier Shaping our Future reports discussed Frankton including Transport (2017) and Visitor and Tourism (2014). What is clear from those reports is the need for robust, innovative, long term planning for the Frankton area.” she said.
The forum will include a presentation from QLDC on the Frankton Masterplan followed by an independently facilitated discussion. The Shaping our Future process includes small group discussion, individual prioritisation and workshopping potential solutions. The results will help inform the QLDC Frankton Masterplan project.
