buyers
KiwiBuild today announced that 18 new apartments to be built at the Tuatahi development in Mt Albert, Auckland are now available to eligible KiwiBuild buyers.
Head of KiwiBuild Stephen Barclay said the apartments provided an excellent opportunity for city living.
“These are highly desirable, architecturally-designed and well-appointed apartments in central Auckland, giving KiwiBuild buyers the opportunity to buy a quality new home in one of the most challenging areas of the country for housing affordability.”
Located on the corner of Soljak Place and New North Road in Mt Albert, the Tuatahi development is a partnership between Ockham Residential and Marutūāhu Iwi. Close to shopping, dining and leisure facilities, it has excellent nearby links to bus and train networks. The Waterview Shared Path also passes right by Tuatahi and will link up to the North-Western Cycleway for easy cycling to Unitec and into the city.
Apartments in the Tuatahi development feature double-glazing and a heat pump, LED lighting, as well as a high-specification kitchen and bathroom fit-out, plus balconies with solid timber decking. The apartment complex includes a communal garden and courtyard along with a 20m outdoor swimming pool.
Mr Barclay said construction of the apartments is underway, and due for completion in late 2019.
“We’ll be opening the ballots for the Tuatahi KiwiBuild apartments on Monday, and successful buyers will be able to secure ownership of their new property before Christmas this year.”
The 18 Tuatahi properties available via the KiwiBuild ballot consist of nine studio apartments, six one-bedroom and three two-bedroom apartments, ranging in price from $435,000 to $600,000. Interested buyers are encouraged to complete the necessary pre-qualification application immediately, and to make an appointment to view the Tuatahi Display Suite via ockham.co.nz.
“We’re delighted to continue bringing a range of quality, affordable first home-buying opportunities to eligible KiwiBuild buyers who have been locked out of the housing market in Auckland and elsewhere.
“As KiwiBuild continues its first year ramping-up phase, we will be announcing many more developments and opportunities in the months ahead. In the meantime, we look forward to our very first successful KiwiBuild buyers crossing the threshold of their new homes at the McLennan development in Papakura, in time for Christmas,” said Mr Barclay.
While the Tuatahi development began several years ago, it is an example of how KiwiBuild works by reducing risk for developers, which creates efficiencies and accelerates the delivery of quality, affordable homes. Through KiwiBuild ballots, these homes are then made available for purchase exclusively to eligible first-home buyers and ‘second-chancers’.
KiwiBuild is on track to deliver the first 1000 KiwiBuild homes by mid-2019, a further 5000 homes by June 2020 and 10,000 homes in the year to June 2021.
