Disaster preparedness event in Lower Hutt
The New Zealand Red Cross and Resilience to Nature’s Challenges are holding to a joint disaster preparedness event in Lower Hutt next month where residents can learn about the risks in their area.
Senior Social Scientist
Dr Julia Becker and Māori Social Scientist Lucy Carter will
speak about the natural disasters that the Hutt Valley is
vulnerable to, what to expect if one happens and how to
respond. They will also share findings from their research
into marae resilience and tsunami evacuation planning in
Petone and Moera.
Red Cross volunteers will talk about how to prepare your family for an emergency, show you what to put in your disaster kit and explain how you can get involved.
The event will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday the 12th of February at the Red Cross offices in Lower Hutt. Entry is free, but spaces are limited so registration is required. For more information and to register visit: https://are-you-ready-hutt-valley.eventbrite.co.nz
Resilience to Nature’s Challenges is one of eleven
