The Migrants Picnic - 2pm Auckland

TODAY: THE MIGRANTS PICNIC

Our media is full of people declaring that immigrants are responsible for job and housing shortages, but with unemployment rates at only 3.9% and 30,000 empty houses in Auckland alone these ideas are untrue.

What is true is that without people coming from other countries to work and live in New Zealand we would have even greater shortfalls in all major industries and our country would be the poorer without the diversity that different cultures brings.

In the face of anti-immigration sentiment, Love Aotearoa Hate Racism would like to commemorate and celebrate all the migrants who have helped make our country the beautiful and diverse multi-cultural place it is. We invite you to bring your friends and families and a picnic to to celebrate multicultural Aotearoa.

There will be music, bands and singers, dancing, sports, games, and we even hope to have a Mr Whippy truck there so you can buy an ice cream to cool down. This is a child friendly event.

Line up will include:

Otis Mace and the 1B4s and more. Watch this space!

Dj Wayne Baker

Girl Named Fred (Jesse Sheehans new band)

And more ....
