Regional growth opportunities under spotlight

Accelerating regional development and business growth will be the focus of a summit organised by Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Professor Te Kani Kingi, Executive Director of Research and Innovation at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, says the Regional Growth Summit will be one of only a few opportunities for regional growth to be discussed within a regional setting.

“Too often discussions on or about the regions are held in Wellington, Auckland or elsewhere, as are the decisions which impact on regional growth,” Professor Kingi says.

“This summit aims to consider issues of importance to our region, our people, and our environment.”

A range of highly regarded speakers and commentators will focus presentations on growth, business and development opportunities in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

“From the summit, it is expected that a discussion document for regional development will be developed, which can be used to inspire accelerated business and growth opportunities for the local area,” Professor Kingi said.

The Regional Growth Summit has been sponsored by Te Puni Kōkiri and Disabilities Resource Centre. It will be held at the Whakatāne campus of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi on March 13 and is free to all participants. To register, please contact Lucy Devany info@ebopchamber.co.nz
