Temporary closure of section of Western Rail Trail
Next week a stretch of the Western Rail Trail between Fraser St and Lake Rd will be closed, to allow maintenance and repair work to be carried out.
The closure will be in place from 9am on Monday 4 March until 5pm on Friday 8 March.
Signed detours will be in place via Queens Ave on the footpath and on-road cycle lane for people who bike, scooter and walk this section of the Rail Trail.
During this closure Northpower will be working on an electrical fault which lies under a part of this section of the Rail Trail in this section. With the closure the opportunity is also being taken by the Council’s Infrastructure Alliance team to raise a manhole to the level of the footpath surface.
Hamilton City Council reminds people walking, biking and scootering to take their usual care travelling along or across roads while detoured from the Rail Trail, and thanks them for their understanding while this work is done.
