Wellington cab drivers to pay tribute to
Christchurch victims, on Friday 23 at Wellington Airport. A
special vigil has been arranged at the Wellington Airport
organised by Multicultural New Zealand and Wellington
Airport.

TIME: 10:45am – 11:15 midday

2 minutes’ silence will be observed to pay respect to the lives lost followed by some words from guests attending.
The vigil will take place at the pre-chartered pen which is located just to the south of the main terminal building (see image below). Those who would like to attend should use the airport parking facilities for their vehicles and walk to the pre-chartered pen as we expect a number of people this space will be reserved for standing room only and not vehicles at this time.
Free parking will be provided at the car park behind the Hertz building (the barriers will be raised at 10.00am until midday) – this is limited to approximately 150 spaces.
To access this car park please proceed out the exit gates at the South end and instead of turning toward the taxi pen carry on South for approximately 20 metres and on the right you will find the entrance to this car park.
The event will start at
1045 this Friday the 22nd March. 2 minutes silence will be
observed followed by some words from guests attending which
include Mayor Justin Lester, Mr Sultan (NZ Islamic
Federation), Mr Pancha Narayanan (Multicultural NZ), Mr Paul
Eagle (MP of Rongotai) and Ms Lorreeta (NZ Police
Wellington).
