Overnight works on SH29A between Takitimu Drive and Barkes

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists there will be overnight resurfacing work starting on SH29A between Takitimu Drive and Barkes Corner this Sunday 7 April.

Bay of Plenty System Manager Rob Campbell says this road is due to be resurfaced as part of the Transport Agency’s normal safety and maintenance programme and should take around eight days to complete.

“While these works are relatively minor we are mindful that there is a lot going on in this area at the moment, including the Tauranga Crossing Stage 2 having just opened and a stormwater upgrade underway along Pyes Pa Road.

“We’re doing the work at night between 6pm and 6a, to help minimise disruption as much as possible to travellers during the day, however there may still be some minor delays, particularly during the peak morning and afternoon hours.

“We ask motorists if possible to consider travelling outside of peak hours,” says Mr Campbell.

A 50kmph temporary speed limit will be in place for the duration of the work and traffic will be operating under a stop/go management.

“There will be periods of time when the metering lights at Barkes Corner roundabout will not be working. We remind drivers that during these periods they should continue to obey normal give way rules at the roundabout and drive carefully and considerately,” says Mr Campbell.

The NZ Transport Agency would like to thank motorists for their cooperation during this time.
