Update: Path closure to allow for tree pruning

A short section of Hamilton’s river path network near Awatere Ave will be closed again for the day tomorrow (17 April) to allow for the completion of a tree pruning operation.

A large liquidambar specimen on the path adjacent to Awatere Ave will be given what is termed a crown reduction – an arboriculture pruning approach to mitigate the risk of falling branches.

The tree is a mature specimen and the pruning will take most of the day.

In the interests of safety, path users will need to detour via Victoria St (exiting the path south of the Fairfield Bridge) and Awatere Ave.
