New road surface for Knighton Rd

Two sections of Knighton Rd will be renewed next week with new chipseal going down on Tuesday 23 and Friday 26 April.

The work is part of Hamilton City Council’s city wide road renewal programme to give longer life to streets and reduce the need for major repairs in the longer term.

On Tuesday work will take place on Knighton Rd between Cambridge Rd and Brocas Ave, and on Friday will be done between Brocas Ave and Greensboro St.

The work will take place between 9am and 5.30pm and stop/go traffic management will be in place. People are asked to not park on the road during this time.

Once the chips have been spread and rolled in, traffic can go on the road to assist with bedding in the new seal. This will be followed by a programme of sweeping and road marking.

Road users asked to take extra care and to keep to reduced speed limits in the area for the safety of those working and others who may be walking, biking or driving.

The work is being done in the school and university holidays to minimise disruption in the area, and people are thanked for their understanding while it is done.
