Calm, Clear but Cloudy
In the midst of calm and clear weather under a high currently bloating over the country, fog formed over Te Ika-a-Māui (the North Island) this weekend. While an indication of a fine day in store, this wasn’t before travel disruptions impacted many.
“We had ideal conditions for extensive fog yesterday and today,” MetService Meteorologist Tui McInnes says. “A ridge of high pressure has lingered over the country, exacerbating clear and calm conditions at night, perfect for the formation of fog.”
For the week that follows, McInnes has this to say; “The high lingers in our neighbourhood, which makes for a pretty good week of weather for most kiwis. There is some wetter weather on the way, but this is set to impact the usual areas, namely along the West Coast.”
