Great progress on SH2 Takitimu Drive works

The NZ Transport Agency would like to advise motorists that contractors have made great progress on the works that started on Monday 20 May along SH2 Takitimu Drive northbound.

Bay of Plenty System Manager Rob Campbell says we acknowledge that the road reconstruction work has been disruptive and caused some long delays during peak hour traffic.

“The contractors have worked really hard and made great progress in the last 48 hours. The lane we’re rebuilding is complex and needs to be stronger than average because it primarily supports heavy traffic to the port.

“Weather-permitting we expect the most complicated section of reconstruction work to be finished by early next week.”

“We should then be able to have both lanes open during the daytime, which means there will be fewer delays for the remaining work,” says Mr Campbell.

The NZ Transport Agency thanks commuters, local businesses and the wider community for their patience.
