Royal Commission’s Marylands School Public Hearing
The Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry’s Marylands School public hearing continues today.
As part of the investigation into abuse in the care of the Catholic Church, the Royal Commission is investigating abuse by the Hospitaller Order of St John of God (St John of God) religious brothers that occurred at Marylands School and two other institutions in Christchurch - St Joseph’s Orphanage and the Hebron Trust.
This is the first comprehensive, independent investigation into abuse that took place in Aotearoa New Zealand under the care of the Catholic Church, through the Hospitaller Order of St John of God.
