Next Café Create Coming Up
There is still time to register for Café Create, a new bi-monthly breakfast get together to celebrate Marlborough’s unique blend of creativity and community.

The next event is on 1 May at the ASB Theatre from 7.15am to 8.45am featuring theatre CEO Joseph Casalme who will share insights into their community programmes. In 2023, ASB Theatre Marlborough launched the Creative Arts Access Programme, providing a new platform for community groups to celebrate, express and share their creativity. Joseph will share some of the results, insights and inspiring stories from the past two years.

Council’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Manager Nicola Neilson said the first Café Create held in March was a sellout success.
“The event was buzzing with energy as Marlborough’s creative community came together for the first time in this way at Kaiaka Café. It was a welcoming and inspiring space for artists, entrepreneurs and innovators to connect, collaborate and spark new ideas,” she said.
Three guest speakers - Aimee Preston (Creative at Heart Programme Coordinator), Emma Toy (art therapist), and Anna Moore (music therapist) - shared insights on the transformative power of the arts, particularly in their new initiative, Caring for the Carer. There was also a peek at plans for the upcoming Creative Marlborough website, a new hub Council is developing to connect and support the region’s creative community.
Mrs Neilson said Café Create was all about bringing creative minds together to exchange ideas, share experiences and build meaningful connections across industries. “Seeing that in action at the first Café Create was wonderful. It really is a fantastic opportunity to network, socialise and connect with others in our creative community.”
Each gathering features light refreshments, a guest speaker, Q and A session and networking.
