Overnight SH20 Northbound Closure Next Week

Essential maintenance will take place overnight on State Highway 20 (SH20) northbound between Neilson Street and Maioro Street on Thursday 1 May, between 10.30pm and 5am.

There will be a full closure of the northbound lanes from Neilson Street to Maioro Street during this time.

We strongly recommend following the signposted detour which will direct traffic via Neilson Street, Onehunga Mall, Mt Smart Road, Mt Albert Road, Hillsborough Road, Richardson Road and Maioro Street, which is expected to add 10 to 15 minutes to people’s journeys.

HPMV will need to use the HMPV approved detour to SH20 Neilson Street southbound on-ramp via Mt Wellington Highway, Sylvia Park Road, Great South Road, South Eastern Highway, Church Street and Neilson Street.

Due to the size of the closure, traffic management will begin setting up before the closure start time. You may see equipment (signs and cones) being laid out, but access to SH20 will remain until 10.30pm.

Our team will be carrying out cyclic maintenance activities such as vegetation control, inspections, asset repairs and stormwater activities. There may be some increased noise levels.

State highway maintenance is an essential part of delivering safe and reliable journeys. We appreciate that time may be added to your journey, and ask that you plan ahead.

This work is weather dependant and is subject to change accordingly. Please check Journey Planner (Auckland | NZTA Journey Planner) for the latest updates and to plan your journey.
