Whānau Ora Community Clinic Transitions Management Of 116 Browns Road Accommodation Facility

26 April, 2025

The Whānau Ora Community Clinic formally concluded its management of the 116 Browns Road Accommodation Facility on 24 April 2025, after three years of dedicated service to whānau and vulnerable individuals in our community.

During this time, the Clinic has supported over 300 tenants and their families, providing safe, supportive, and culturally grounded accommodation. This milestone marks not just an end, but a new chapter for both the Clinic and the facility itself.

We are proud to announce that the ongoing management of 116 Browns Road has now been transitioned to Maranga Fanau Services, under the capable leadership of Phylis Latu. We have every confidence in their ability to carry this important kaupapa forward with care, manaakitanga, and commitment.

We take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to all the agencies and frontline staff who have worked alongside us over these past three years. In particular, we thank New Zealand Police, Work and Income New Zealand, and the Department of Corrections for their unwavering support — from callouts, to client placements, to community safety efforts. Your collaboration has been critical to the wellbeing of our tenants and their reintegration into community life.

On the eve of ANZAC Day, as the nation pauses to remember service, sacrifice, and resilience, we are reminded of the many forms of service that exist in our communities today. The mahi at 116 Browns Road, while different in form, has been grounded in a deep sense of duty — to support, uplift, and restore dignity to those in need. We acknowledge all our staff, partners, and whānau who have stood with us in this kaupapa.

As The Whānau Ora Community Clinic turns its focus toward expanding our medical and social service initiatives, we carry forward the lessons and relationships built during our time at Browns Road. We are humbled by the journey and proud of what has been achieved together.

We warmly wish Maranga Fanau Services all the best as they take the reins and continue to serve the community with heart and purpose.
