Unease between Labour And
Alliance - Labour has announced it will charge
no
interest on loans while students are studying, and
interest on repayments will only begin once a graduate
begins earning above $25,000 a year. Fees will remain but
the policy will eventually work towards a flat fee for all
full time courses. But the measures come nowhere near what
the Alliance has already promised, which is scrapping fees
altogether, interest free loans and the introduction of a
student allowance at doll levels. Any Labour/Alliance
coalition government is bound to face wrangles over which
elements of which policy would be adopted.
