Stagecoach And Drivers Ready To Negotiate
by Selwyn Manning
Stagecoach bus drivers are positive that a resolution to contractual differences with Stagecoach management can be achieved.
Last week Aucklander commuters took to their cars after around 300 bus drivers staged a series of wildcat strikes. Roads jammed and commuters were stuck in seemingly endless lines of traffic.
Stagecoach filed to take the bus driver's union to court. But that action has this morning been called off in favour of talks between the two parties later in the week.
Management and the union are publicly stating the will to resolve problems with the new contract. The problems center on extended hours for drivers and scheduled breaks.
