Television Council Appoints Chairman

The New Zealand Television Broadcasters’ Council has appointed Graeme Hunter as an independent chairman. Mr Hunter, who has recently resigned as managing director for TV3 and TV4, was CanWest NZ’s representative on the Council from its inception in 1998.

He was the first chairman of the Council.

Bruce Wallace, Executive Director of the NZTBC, said that the Council was unanimous in inviting Mr Hunter to continue as chairman. He said that Mr Hunter’s industry knowledge and experience would prove to be great assets for the ongoing work of the Council.

The other members of the Council are: TVNZ represented by CEO, Rick Ellis; TV3/TV4 represented by managing director, Rick Friesen and Prime Television’s general manager, Warwick Syphers.

The New Zealand Television Broadcasters’ Council is an industry group representing non-competitive issues in free to air television broadcasting.
