American Electric Power (AEP) Signs Contract With Peace Software
Peace Software’s experience, functionality and
commitment
key to AEP’s decision
Auckland - December 11, 2000 - Peace Software, a global provider of e-Business solutions for energy retail companies, today announced that American Electric Power (AEP), one of the world’s largest energy providers, has licensed Peace’s Energy™ solution for use in deregulated retail markets in the United States.
“We chose Peace Software’s Energy system because of its technological and functional capabilities in the emerging competitive retail market,” said Robert Goumaz, managing director of customer care for AEP. “Further, we believe Peace Software will be a leading supplier of customer management systems for the deregulated energy market, and we intend to leverage their experience and commitment in creating cost effective and highly flexible environments for our customers.”
AEP will deploy the Peace Energy solution to serve more than one million customers in the soon-to-deregulate Texas electricity market. Steve Appelt, AEP’s senior vice president of administration, said, “Scalability was certainly a major consideration for us. The Energy system will enable us to offer innovative products and services while delivering excellent online customer care. Our goal is to further streamline our internal operations to enhance our ability to meet the needs of deregulating markets.”
In an October 31, 2000 bulletin,
META Group noted that customer knowledge and the integration
of business and technology strategies will be critical
success factors for leaders in new markets for
energy-related products and services.
“AEP is positioning
to take a leadership role in the unregulated North American
retail energy market,” said Brian Peace, chairman and CEO of
Peace Software. “Peace’s partnership with
AEP, one of the largest providers in the global energy arena, demonstrates our ability to deliver scalable and flexible technology to meet large-scale customer and business requirements.”
AEP employed a rigorous evaluation process with more than 500 predefined functional requirements. Energy’s Browser User Interface (BUI) especially appealed to AEP. Energy’s BUI exploits the latest browser technology and has significant usability and technical advantages including rapid deployment in multiple locations, broad access to internet-based information, support for virtually any desktop computing system, cost-effective system administration, and a familiar environment that is easy to learn and highly productive to use.
