Hodgson's Seed Capital Ideas A Winner

The Employers & Manufacturers Association (Northern) says Science Minister Pete Hodgson is onto a winner in how he is approaching venture capital for small enterprises and/or to spin off new ventures from medium scale businesses.

"Incubator level capital facilitated by Government, with matching funds or better, supplied from the private sector, is certainly an approach we endorse," said Alasdair Thompson, EMA's chief executive.

"New Zealand's future standards of living will depend to a large degree on how fast we can bring new, commercially viable ideas to market; Pete Hodgson's formula for developing new enterprises is encouraging.

"We welcome the proposals and look forward to seeing more of the details on how the money is to be raised and how it will be administered."
