PeopleSoft Appoints New General Manager to Drive
Growth in North Asia
New appoint underpins Asian
Expansion
Auckland – 1 February 2001 - PeopleSoft today announced the appointment of Rob Wells to General Manager – North Asia, effective immediately.
As General Manager, Rob will be responsible for the strategic growth and business development for North Asia, establishing Hong Kong as a major hub for the region, underpinning PeopleSoft’s commitment to building on its existing presence in Asia, and expanding its network of prospective eBusiness and enterprise application software customers in the region.

Our key objectives will be to supporting our existing customers and enable other North Asian businesses take advantage of the enormous opportunities the market is presenting. Mr Wells
previously held the position of Director of Operations where
he was responsible for growing PeopleSoft’s Australia and
New Zealand business based on the company’s leading
eBusiness strengths and its drive into the CRM market. As
Director of Operations, Mr Wells successfully delivered
strong growth in PeopleSoft’s share of the Australian and
New Zealand market, taking new Enterprise Performance
Management, Supply Chain and eProcurement product
initiatives to market and building a strong CRM business.
Commenting on his appointment Mr Andrew Barkla, Vice
President Asia Pacific said, “Rob has made a significant
contribution to our ANZ operation, which I am confident he
will replicate in North Asia. The Asian region as a whole
is critical to PeopleSoft, and the growth of both North and
South Asia will believe will be significant in
2001.”
Since joining PeopleSoft in June 1996, Mr Wells
has also held the position of Education, Government and
Financial Services Business Unit Director and Sales
Director, where he consistently achieved and outperformed
sales objectives.
Mr Wells has close to twenty years’
experience in IT industry. Prior to joining PeopleSoft, he
spent six years at Sequent, most recently holding the
position of Managing Director, Sequent Australia.
In Australia and New Zealand Mr Wells’ Director of Operations role will be replaced by a Managing Director – an appointment due to be announced this quarter.
