First major appointment since VNU merger announcement
Auckland, February 14, 2001 – In a move to further strengthen the industry leadership of ACNielsen in the region, the company announced today the promotion of Frank Martell to the position of President, ACNielsen Asia Pacific.
The appointment is the first senior management appointment in Asia Pacific since ACNielsen announced the merger with VNU last December, creating the world’s leading marketing and media information service.
Martell will oversee all business operations in the region and report to Mike Connors, the US-based Vice Chairman of ACNielsen Corp. and K. N. Tang, ACNielsen Asia Pacific’s Chairman, based in Hong Kong.
“Frank is a seasoned executive with outstanding operating management and leadership skills. He will continue to excel and grow the leadership of ACNielsen in the region as part of a now bigger and stronger group,” said Mr. Connors.
Martell joined ACNielsen in 1995 and played an important leadership role in the company’s spin-off from Dun & Bradstreet during 1996. He has held various senior positions over the past four years including Chief Financial Officer, Managing Director-North Asia and, most recently, Chief Operating Officer for the region.
ACNielsen, with 1999 revenue of $1.5 billion, is the world’s leading market research firm, offering measurement and analysis of marketplace dynamics, consumer attitudes and behaviour, and new and traditional media in more than 100 countries. Clients include leading consumer product manufacturers, retailers and service firms, media and entertainment companies and the Internet community.
