MINISTER ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS TO THE ELECTRICAL WORKERS REGISTRATION BOARD

The Minister of Energy, Hon Pete Hodgson has announced the appointment of Messrs Brian Velvin and Dennis Amiss to the Electrical Workers Registration Board for terms of three years from 7 March 2001. The Minister has also re-appointed Mr Barrie Mason for a second three-year term.

Details of Messrs Velvin, Amiss and Mason’s skills and experience are as follows:

BRIAN VELVIN
Brian Velvin is a registered electrical inspector and has his own electrical contracting business at New Plymouth. Brian has over thirty years varied experience in the electrical industry and has considerable management skills. Brian maintains a “hands on” role in the electrical industry.

DENNIS AMISS
Dennis Amiss is a registered electrician and the Chief Executive Officer (Executive Director and Secretary) of the Appliance and Electronic Industry Association (AEIA). Dennis has held this type of position for over twenty years and has represented the electrical/electronic-servicing sector on a number of working parties and study groups.

BARRIE MASON
Barrie Mason has considerable senior management and governance experience. Barrie has been President of the Magazine Publishers Association and a representative on the Advertising Standards Authority. Barrie has high level communication and organisational skills.
