Cadmus Drives Deal To Handle Taxi Vouchers

Auckland - May 09, 2001 – Riding on the fact that a growing number of taxi passengers are using corporate vouchers, Auckland based Cadmus Technology Limited (NZSE: CTL), has signed an agreement to put its SmartTaxi terminals in Christchurch-based, Gold Band Taxis.

Goldband have given their endorsement to the payment solutions and data management services provider to install SmartTaxi terminals into the company’s fleet.

The smartcard based system provides for a cost effective method to manage credit card and corporate voucher taxi payments and will improve service to corporate customers by ensuring that information contained in management reports is more accurate and comprehensive.

Organisations using this service will be able to more effectively track who, when and where taxi vouchers are used over a specific period. In addition credit cards can be processed by the same system enabling faster approvals and more comprehensive receipts for the customers.

“We see the introduction of these new terminals as an added valued service for our customers,” says Bernie Hall, General Manager, Gold Band Taxis. “With this service the information is processed in the taxi and automatically uploaded to a central host system to provide the client with a complete reporting package. This results in a faster and more accurate system.”

According to Cadmus Managing Director, Ian Bailey, the installation of the terminals into taxis is a smart move. “It is extremely simple to install, but will prove highly effective for a taxi company, such as Gold Band,” says Ian.

“For example, the terminals are a significant point of difference as they give corporates the ability to manage travel expenses more efficiently. It proves a much simpler task to analyse where cost inefficiencies are occurring. Further, the ability to process credit cards as well as produce cash receipts provides a complete system for the majority of the payments, other than cash.”

With the Cadmus terminals and the advanced intelligence provided by the SmartTaxi system, the driver can obtain a range of reports to show them their total fares for the day, as well as a summary of the methods of payment and the total number of fares. This allows the drivers to reduce the time taken in reconciliation and settlement of payment for non-cash fares.
