New gen-i Hamilton Office Serves Growing IT Needs
HAMILTON, 29 June 2001- Internet integrator gen-i today announced that it had opened a new national repair centre of excellence in Hamilton.
The expanded capability, at its ’s Princes Street offices, will lift Hamilton staff from 11 to 19. Hamilton has recently become the home for gen-i’s national courier repair service and has taken responsibility for IT inventory and asset management for the company’s largest clients.
gen-i has also extended its capability in Hamilton to offer the full suite of services including IT infrastructure development, software services, and consulting and account management.
gen-i’s moved of its nationwide courier repair operation to Hamilton reflects the extended range of services it now offers in the region, as well as the abilities of the local team. It also marks and gen-i’s commitment to and growth in the Waikato/BoP region, says Branch Manager Gary Ilton.
“The considerable growth we have experienced within the Waikato/BOP area is now escalating with the recent developments in the Dairy sector. We expect a wider impact on those companies that have downstream relationships with the dairy sector and we believe gen-i is well positioned to meet the needs of all these companies, irrespective of size.” he said.
Hamilton was also chosen because it is a major courier hub for gen-i’s nationwide service. The office is close enough to offer at least three daily courier runs to Auckland.
“Hamilton also doesn’t have Auckland ‘s traffic congestion of which has to be a bonus,” Mr Ilton said.
The national repair centre replaces faulty equipment at short notice via courier. “If a customer in Invercargill has a problem, they call the gen-i online helpdesk service and we immediately despatch a replacement to their offices. They return the defective equipment to us, also by courier. When repaired, the equipment is either returned to the customer, or held on their behalf,” Mr Ilton said.
gen-i Hamilton manages the IT assets for the company’s largest clients. It stores equipment specifically configured to a client’s particular needs on their behalf and manages the despatch and installation as required.
“Hamilton has become much more than just a break/fix operation, says Mr Ilton. “We offer the full range of gen-i services including gen-i Infrastructure and Ventures.
gen-i Infrastructure (Consulting Services) can assist clients from the development of their Business strategies to Project Management, through to design and implementation of innovative network solutions.
In the Waikato and BoP region, gen-i’s Ventures business group can now offer extensive software architecture, design, development, integration, and consulting services. The focus is on smart design of innovative business applications, either bespoke development or based on leading third-party software including content services, information management, Internet, e-commerce and mobile solutions. Ventures' goal is to create competitive edge for our customers by the innovative application of both proven and emerging technologies.
