Enhanced Equipment Level Adds Further Value To New Zealand’s Number One Selling Car

With the release of the limited edition Commodore Equipe sedan and wagon, Holden gives private buyers more reason than ever to choose New Zealand’s top-selling car. An enduring Kiwi favourite, the Commodore was New Zealand’s most popular carline last year and proving to be a sublime performer again in 2001. Year to date June 2001 and according to provisional data, the carline leads its nearest competitor and rival by some 960 units.

Based on the 2001 VX Series Commodore Executive V6 automatic, the smartly styled Equipe - it is anticipated that 140 sedans and 45 wagons of the total build quantity of 5,000 units being produced in Australia will cross the Tasman - offers additional comfort and convenience features. The Commodore Equipe sedan has a recommended retail price - exclusive of on-road costs, of $42,400 while the load-carrying wagon lists at $43,900.

Holden’s proven 3.8 litre ECOTEC V6 engine - matched to an electronically controlled four-stage automatic transmission - developing 152 kW of power at 5200 rpm and 305 Nm of torque at 3600 rpm, powers the Commodore Equipe sedan and wagon.

“Over the years, limited edition Commodore models have built up an enviable record of sales success and interest in the nameplate,” said Aalbert van Ham, Holden’s public affairs manager. “The value-added 2001 Equipe package is bound to add to that tradition and further boost the appeal and competitiveness of the marque as we look to stretch Commodore’s undisputed market leadership position to 12 months in a row,” he concluded.

Like all Holden passenger cars, sport-utility/recreational four-wheel drive and light commercial vehicles, the VX Series Commodore Equipe is covered by a three-year 100,000 kilometres warranty - whichever occurs first. Normal service intervals - following the first inspection at 1500 kms, are at every six months or 10,000 kilometres, while the model’s braked towing capacity - with Holden approved equipment, is 2,100 kilograms.

The Equipe also comes with ‘Holden Advantage,’ a motoring assurance package delivered through the collective resources of Holden Dealers and the New Zealand Automobile Association and which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Benefits, which apply to the vehicle rather than driver and are thus transferred on resale, are a breakdown and recovery service and where applicable, an overnight accommodation and/or alternative transport plan - all in accordance with the formal document that accompanies the vehicle. The service is accessed through the toll free number 0800 HOLDEN.
