Brookers
Acquires Safeguard Publications
Brookers Ltd today
announced the completion of its acquisition of Safeguard
Publications Ltd, a leading New Zealand publisher of
occupational health and safety information.
“We are very pleased to have Safeguard Publications as part of Brookers and excited about the opportunities available to us through the combined portfolio,” said Neil Story, Managing Director of Brookers Ltd. “The products and brands of both Brookers and Safeguard will remain in the market with research planned to identify opportunities for combined servicing of the market in the future.”
Safeguard will continue to operate from Auckland with its existing employees and the principals of Safeguard, Lane Abel and Terry Barnett, will stay with the company through the transition. Mr Barnett will continue in a consultative capacity and Mr Abel will remain in an operational management role.
Safeguard Publications began publishing the Safeguard magazine ten years ago and has extended the product range in the Occupational Health and Safety market into update newsletters, a supplier’s directory and the management of an annual Work Safe expo.
Mr Abel, the Managing Director of Safeguard Publications, said today, “I am impressed with the commitment made by Brookers to maintain and develop the Safeguard brand, culture and product mix. With the developments already in the pipeline and the support gained through this new agreement I look forward to the future growth of the Safeguard brand under Brookers direction.”
“The acquisition of Safeguard will facilitate new growth opportunities for Brookers, particularly in the area of electronic delivery and complements recent expansion activities”, said Neil Story. “The addition of the Safeguard portfolio particularly complements Brookers recent acquisition of Employment Today and now places Brookers as a leading supplier of HR information to the professional marketplace. Over the next three months Employment Today and Safeguard will co-locate in Auckland to achieve process and infrastructure efficiencies.”
During the last eighteen months, Brookers has acquired BRIEFCASE, a highly regarded case law indexing service, Employment Today, New Zealand’s premier employment and human resources magazine, and DSL Publishing, a well respected and successful publisher of local government and resource management law information. These acquisitions have provided a number of opportunities for product expansion and business development on the existing strength of the Brookers portfolio of products and services.
