Taihape Power Supply Interruptions – Update

Powerco
Monday, August 20, 2001, 3:00pm

Electricity supply is being restored to the remaining consumers in the Taihape region after some of the heaviest snowfall in 30 years. Mains supply will be reinstated to 35 homes this afternoon, and the remaining five homes are being supplied with portable generators. Supply to some non-essential buildings like woolsheds and unoccupied shearing quarters will be restored over the coming days.

Powerco again had over 40 people and two helicopters working in the area and staff are now being stood down after working 16 hour days since Wednesday this week. Some staff will remain in the area over the weekend to follow-up on any minor repairs.
