Wilders Removal Welcomed By Trucking Industry
The trucking industry fully supports the Land Transport Safety Authority’s move to remove the licences of unsafe truck operators, Road Transport Forum NZ (RTFNZ) chief executive Tony Friedlander said today.
Mr Friedlander was commenting on the LTSA decision to remove the operating licences of Christchurch company Wilders Transport.
“RTFNZ has actively promoted the introduction of an Operator Safety Rating System to enable unsafe operators to be identified and put off the road. We are encouraged to see the LTSA put that approach into practice.
“The industry is very pleased to see Wilders Transport go. Operators who cut costs by consistently flouting safety standards and weight limits not only place the public at risk, they place unfair economic pressure on honest operators,” said Mr Friedlander.
“Companies like that do huge damage and it is good to see them weeded out.”
