Palmerston North Chosen for
First
North Island Computer Megastore
Auckland, 16
October 2001 – Palmerston North has been chosen as the first
North Island location for New Zealand’s new computer retail
superstore that opens this Friday (19
October).
Appropriately named Big Byte, the new store launched by Pacific Retail Group (PRG:NZSE) is a unique computer and communication solutions store in New Zealand. Big Byte has everything to meet Kiwi’s computing needs, whether a small or medium business, serious computer buff or home user.
Peter Halkett, CEO of Pacific Retail Group says they chose to launch Big Byte in Palmerston North because of its forward-thinking, growing, cosmopolitan community.
“Palmerson North calls itself Knowledge City, which is a perfect match for a high tech store such as Big Byte,” says Halkett.
Big Byte is a unique computer store that will include a PC clinic for technical support service and health checks, a solutions centre for specialist advice, a design-your-own-PC service, office furniture and a full range of communication products and services including pre-paid and contract Telecom and Vodafone products.
Halkett says Palmerston North has numerous computer users with a vast array of small to medium size businesses.
As well as businesses, students, the family whiz kid and the retired can visit Big Byte and get specialist advice for free,” says Halkett.
Big Byte will be located in the central business district of Palmerston North, will employ 17 people, and is open seven days.
