Many Winners From 'Buy NZ Made' - Anderton

Economic Development Minister Jim Anderton will draw the winning entry for the 'Buy NZ-Made' contest in Wellington on Tuesday.

The Buy NZ-Made campaign's prize this year is a giant Christmas 'stocking': over $10,000 worth of appliances, furniture, paint, groceries, toys and cosmetics, all donated by New Zealand manufacturers.

Jim Anderton says the campaign members - all New Zealand companies - are to be congratulated for taking the initiative to support local industry.

"By buying NZ-made, you help to grow New Zealand jobs. It's essential to raise awareness of NZ products to help our economy grow.

"There are several winners from this promotion - not only the winner of Tuesday's draw, but also New Zealand businesses and the New Zealand economy," Mr Anderton said.

Consumers who've entered the contest are in the draw to win a washing machine, fridge, lawnmower, bed set, leather chair and thousands of dollars worth of house paints, groceries, houseware, toys and cosmetics.

A photo opportunity of Mr Anderton making the draw will be at:

8.15 am Tuesday 18 December Level 6 Microsoft House 3 Hunter St Wellington
