"The New Sandpit"
"The New Sandpit" will be the theme of the New Zealand Property Institutes 2002 Conference being held in Rotorua on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 May 2002.
NZPI CEO Conor English said today, "The new sandpit" conference will be a vital event on the calendar for 2002.
"In New Zealand, property has an asset value of some $420 billion. What happens with that asset base is important to the New Zealand economy and our communities. This conference will be about "the new sandpit" for property. By that we mean the opportunities that are available in the ever-changing environment in which we all live and work, especially since September 11, about the challenges that we are all presented with, and about the future direction for this important sector, the new game. We want to challenge and inspire attendees.
Mr. English said that the conference would be addressed by speakers on key issues from different parts of the globe, including New York. They will talk about "the new sandpit" in there respective areas. In addition there will be a practical slant to parts of the conference with some specific practical property related issues addressed.
This conference will be yet another step in "The Transition Project" that the Institute is undertaking he said.
Mr English said he expected the 2002 conference to be as successful as this years Christchurch one, although that would be a difficult challenge. "This year we had over 300 at the conference who had their minds stretched, learnt a few things, met both new and old friends, and had a pretty good time to boot. In 2002 we will be endeavoring to make it an even bigger success," he concluded.
The conference committee of Ken Pawson, Frank Spencer, Paul Smith, Brett Whalley, Jim Veitch, and Julia Durrant are pulling the conference together over the coming months. More details will be announced at the appropriate time.
