New Ford Mondeo Records Highest Monthly Segment Sales Figure For Past Decade
The new Ford Mondeo achieved a record number of registrations in November, which saw it achieve the honour of being the most popular four cylinder medium size car in any one month of the past decade.
There were 491 new Ford Mondeos registered last month, which is also substantially more than any other month since its launch in 1997.
"We were always confident that the new Ford Mondeo would be successful, but results such as we are experiencing are quite astonishing," said Brand Manager, Barbara Paley.
Following the biggest month of Mondeo sales ever recorded in New Zealand, Ford has also increased the specification level found on selected models in the range, but with no change to recommended retail prices.
"This makes the popular new Ford Mondeo an even more desirable proposition," said Ms. Paley.
The Ford Mondeo, which has already won three New Zealand Car of the Year Awards as well as numerous international accolades, has three additional safety and security additions, including the impressive 'auto-relock' feature.
"If a Mondeo is unlocked and the doors, including the tailgate, are not opened and the ignition remains off, the vehicle will automatically relock itself and set the alarm after 45 seconds."
"The auto-relock feature is now standard on all models," she said.
A feature to aid wet weather driving is 'Reverse Gear Wipe,' which is now found on the hatch and wagon derivatives of the new Mondeo. When reverse gear is engaged, and the windscreen wipers are activated, the rear window wiper will operate automatically.
A perimeter alarm is now a standard feature on the sedan and wagon models, and three new colours have also been released. They are Metropolis Blue, Neptune Green, and Oyster Silver.
"These new features enhance Mondeo's already extensive safety and security platform, and combined with no increase in recommended retail price, offer exceptional value for money motoring," said Ms. Paley.
