TELSTRACLEAR
AND SKY TELEVISION ANNOUNCE NEW PROGRAMMING DEAL
TelstraClear and SKY Television confirmed today that an agreement has been reached that sees SKY supplying television programming and channels to TelstraClear for the next seven years.
Under this agreement SKY will provide all TelstraClear’s television programming, take over existing programming contracts and manage the relationships with the suppliers.
Rosemary Howard, TelstraClear’s Chief Executive said “ This new arrangement will be a major boost for TelstraClear’s customers as greater quality television, in particular sport, will now be available in addition to our voice, data and Internet services. Our new agreement with Sky also reflects TelstraClear’s continued commitment to the residential market.”

“Another notable feature of this agreement is that two companies who compete at retail level can strike a partnership at a wholesale level. This is beneficial to the market and I believe strongly supports TelstraClear’s ‘buy-build’ strategy where the Company looks to get the best value from its own networks and services or those of others” said Howard.
John Fellet, SKY Television Chief Executive said “SKY is pleased to have been appointed by TelstraClear to supply their programming as it provides SKY with another distribution platform to reach New Zealand consumers”
“In the future there will be more and more different platforms delivering content to consumers – non exclusive programming supply agreements like this one with TelstraClear will continue to provide New Zealanders with more choices and options” said Fellet.
The agreement will take effect from 1 February 2002.
