Anniversary Weekend Driver Wins $10,000

Motorists who stopped for petrol in Taihape in the central North Island on the Monday of Auckland Anniversary Weekend are being urged to check their till receipts.

This is after the local BP Service Station issued a $10,000-winning Kachingo! ticket.

The lucky motorist spent $28.10 on petrol and paid by credit card. BP Taihape proprietor Ross Martin thinks the winner is probably a traveller rather than a local.

“We know most of our local customers so I suspect the winner’s an out-of-towner passing through on the long weekend,” he said. “I’ve been telling all our regulars to check their tickets – you could be the $10,000 winner I’ve said – but without any luck so far.

“We’re the first of two service stations in Taihape if you’re heading north .... it’s probably someone driving home after the Auckland Anniversary break.”

The winning game line contains the numbers 02, 12, 18, 22, 26, 32 and the power number 16 and is valid for a weekly draw date February 3. The prize can be claimed up to six months after the date of issue.

BP spokesperson Jane Diver says the latest winner could live virtually anywhere in the North Island.

“There would have been lots of people on the road on the Monday of Auckland Anniversary weekend. I’d say we’ve got our work cut out tracking down this winner,” Ms Diver says.

Kachingo! organisers have had more luck with a motorist who called in to BP Tiverton in west Auckland the week before – that person has claimed his $250,000 Kachingo! cash from the January monthly draw.

However, they are still looking for a motorist who shopped at BP Balmoral in Auckland on Thursday, January 3. That person’s single game line won the $10,000 Kachingo! weekly draw for January 6.
