Electronic Arts brings the magic of Disney to New Zealand

Electronic Arts (EA) NZ has signed an exclusive deal with Disney to distribute its games in New Zealand.

The license grants EA the rights to publish and distribute all Disney titles for next generation video game consoles, handheld platforms and the personal computer.

EA will initially launch a range of 20 different Disney titles across four categories -- educational, junior, action and creative. Gamers can expect to find old, new and familiar Disney friends, including Winnie the Pooh, Atlantis, Monsters Inc, Lion King and Toy Story.

"We are very pleased to bring the Disney range to New Zealand," says Mike Wynands, general manager of EA NZ. "There has been a lot of public interest and demand for these titles, and it's fantastic that we'll be able to deliver them in time for next month's school holidays."

Wynands is particularly enthusiastic about the educational range, which he believes will be a hit with parents.

"The educational range takes computer gaming to the next level by incorporating educational components into a familiar gaming context."

The range is scheduled for release in late March, and will be priced from NZ$29.95 to NZ$49.95.
