Kiwis Abroad Get Favourite Underwear On-Line

New Zealand women on the great OE are discovering something close to their hearts - underwear. They are now able to buy their favourite Bendon lingerie at the click of a mouse - no more relying on friends or mum to choose and mail the gear.

New Zealand's highly successful internet retailer, Jenniferann.com, has made this possible.

Having become the first company to gain the rights to market Bendon lingerie on the web last October, demand for the popular label has come from the UK, US, Australia, South America, Japan and Germany.

Bendon's New Zealand General Manager, Howard George, says one of the big benefits of going online with Jenniferann.com is that it has opened up the company's brands to the global market.

"Expats living in the UK and other countries are buying our products through the site. Mums used to send over our lingerie but now women have the advantage of personally ordering it over the internet," he says. "This has meant our brands are becoming known worldwide."

Bendon is one of several major lingerie brands to join the Jenniferann.com website, which has been selling lingerie on-line since September 1999. The popular Australasian label joins other big names such as Triumph, Berlei, Expozay, Valisere and Lovables.

Company Director, JenniferAnn, says it's fantastic to have such a renowned brand as Bendon on the site, especially for marketing to New Zealanders overseas.

"Already significant custom for Bendon is coming from kiwis living in the United Kingdom, which is a trend I expect to grow. There are so many kiwis working in Britain or using it as a base for travel and many would have Bendon lingerie in their backpack," she says.

28 year-old Anne Horridge, an Aucklander now living in Belfast, is just one of the New Zealanders who commends the service.

"What a great find the website is, myself and my other kiwi girlfriends living in the UK love Bendon lingerie, so it is great to find an internet retailer," says Anne.

The addition of Bendon to Jenniferann.com has bought a steady rise in customers for this country's only on-line lingerie store.

"We've reached two million hits per month and this keeps on growing - there's been an increase of 10-20% each month," says JenniferAnn.

Howard George says Bendon joined the site after Jenniferann.com had proved its credibility.

"The site had been established for some time and gained a good reputation. JenniferAnn worked hard to make it a success and Bendon was pleased to come on board," he says.

"Our involvement with Jenniferann.com is at an early stage and over the coming year we hope to expand the products on offer."

Jenniferann.com is the only on-line lingerie retailer in New Zealand and has customers all over the world. Launched at a time when e-tail sites were consistently failing, it is one of the few successes.

Last September the company launched a supporting web-design business JenniferAnn Web, which has been inundated with customers wanting to set up their own websites.
