Compaq Expands Wireless Solutions Offering For Enterprise Customers With Emprise I.T. Partnership

- Compaq Computer NZ has announced emPrise I.T. as an Asia Pacific partner for its Enterprise Mobility Solutions Group.

As a key partner in it's rapidly growing Enterprise Mobility Solutions, emPrise I.T. will provide industry standards based wireless and mobility solutions, specifically for Sales Force Automation, Field Service Automation and Mobile Trading.

The strategic announcement reflects Compaq's global commitment to provide customers with leading wireless solutions to extend their back office applications to mobile workers.

"Enterprise Mobility Solutions are the fastest growing segment of our total business," says John Hoonhout, Director Solutions Group, Compaq Computer NZ. "The combination of the rapid adoption of wireless technology and telecom providers launching 2.5G and 3G services, will see over 50 million wireless Internet users in the region by 2005. Key to that adoption is providing the right applications and mobile devices to take full business advantage of what this technology can truly deliver."

"We know our customers are looking to us to provide proven, reliable and scaleable end-to-end solutions, with tangible ROI and business productivity gains. In New Zealand we are already jointly developing some outstanding solutions for customers through our partnership with emPrise I.T."

Mark Manners Compaq's Asia Pacific Director of Enterprise Mobility Solutions adds "Working with emPrise I.T., we are able to deliver a fully integrated wireless solution, leveraging our iPAQ Pocket PC with our Proliant server infrastructure, which emPrise I.T.'s aVya solution is optimised for. Customers that are looking to take advantage of the cost savings and increase in productivity that mobile Sales Force Automation solutions can provide are reassured that we deploy these solutions using industry standards with our partners Intel and Microsoft via .NET. This ensures the integration of emPrise I.T.'s aVya solution into back end systems, is both comprehensive and trouble free."

The partnership with emPrise I.T. is a prime example of how Compaq partners with innovative Independent Software Vendors (ISV's), through the Compaq Solutions Group and it's Enterprise Mobility Solutions group. "It's about selecting the best in class partners and leveraging our access and infrastructure platforms and then wrapping it all together with our Global Services for delivery. It's a best practices approach and shows the strength of the total solutions approach that we have at Compaq," adds Manners.

Manju Fernando, Managing Director of emPrise I.T. sees the partnership with Compaq as exciting and essential for New Zealand based companies, like emPrise I.T., trying to break into large overseas markets.

"Working in partnership with Compaq and having access to a brand that has the breadth and diversity of Compaq's offerings has been vital for our expansion into the Asia Pacific region," says Manju Fernando. "We have already developed some exciting Enterprise Mobility Solutions for our customers and are looking forward to developing more of these with Compaq."

Compaq and emPrise IT are working collaboratively within the Asia Pacific region, with account activity in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
