Inaugrual National Export Conference Launched
Trade New Zealand Launches Inaugrual National Export Conference
Conference (May 14-15) to focus on critical export factors, practical advice and market intelligence to fuel New Zealand’s export growth
Auckland, April 16, 2002 – Key business commentators, Government Ministers and trade officials will present ways for exporters to work smarter and in partnership at the inaugural Trade New Zealand National Export Conference next month.
Trade New Zealand says the two-day conference in Auckland on May 14-15 aims to spark new ideas and create a unique networking opportunity, in a move to stimulate further vital export growth.
Trade New Zealand General Manager Marketing Rod MacKenzie says while exporting is well accepted as the backbone of our economy, statistics show only a small number of exporters are generating the majority of the country’s export earnings. To grow our country’s wealth it is critical that more companies commit to exporting, he says.
“Trade New Zealand’s client research highlights their need for greater networking and information sharing opportunities, and a need for clear, practical advice – so that’s what we’re doing,” Mr MacKenzie says.
“We want this conference to be the catalyst for exporters to brainstorm, gather advice from people who have already achieved, stimulate new ideas and to showcase new channels and methods.
“The programme is packed with professional advice backed up by practical, insightful case examples and workshop options which will help exporters to work smarter.
“By working in partnership with other companies, Trade New Zealand and the other agencies and organisations available, exporters can extend their reach much further.”
Led by key business commentators, successful exporters, Government agency heads, Senior Trade Commissioners and Government Ministers, the conference sessions will cover issues such as branding, e-business, export finance options, intellectual property and market intelligence on established and emerging export markets.
Industries such as food and beverage and international education will be covered in workshop options, while Day Two of the conference will focus on technology, design and the creative industries.
On the closing night of the conference (subs: May 15th) the category and Supreme Exporter of the Year Awards will be announced, in the 2002 finale Trade New Zealand Export Award ceremony. Also during the ceremony the Foundation for Research, Science & Technology will present their Technology Commendations.
The conference programme and registration are available online at www.tradenz.govt.nz/conference . Exporters can also email exporter2002@tcc.co.nz or call the Export Hotline on 0800 555 888.
Attendees at the conference are expected to range from CEOs, managing directors, export managers, marketing, international business and business development managers. Specialists in banking, finance, marketing and consultancy will also benefit from the business opportunities the conference presents.
