NAD Appoints New Independent Chair

The parties to the Number Administration Deed (NAD) are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Malcolm Alexander as the independent NAD Chair. Malcolm replaces Liz Longworth who resigned to take up a position with Industry NZ.

The NAD's purpose is to manage telephone numbering policy and to develop efficient and effective numbering practices. It includes a process to determine whether implementing and operating proposed long-term number portability (LTNP) solutions would have positive net economic benefits to society. The NAD recently formed a working group to develop an Industry Portability Management System (IPMS) necessary for the implementation of LNTP.

Malcolm Alexander is the General Manager of Market Services at M-co, the company that administers the New Zealand Electricity Market (NZEM). In this role he is responsible for all policy relating to M-co's participation in electricity-related matters, including surveillance and compliance and the rule development and change processes for NZEM. He is Chair of a number of electricity industry working groups.

Malcolm also brings telecommunications experience to his role as NAD Chair. He has overseen the relationship between the NAD committee and M-co as Number Administrator and facilitated workshops for the telecommunications industry to discuss the design of an industry forum.

The parties to the NAD are CallPlus, Econet Wireless, IHUG, Telecom, TelstraClear, Vodafone and Zip Internet. TUANZ attends as an observer.
