Carter Holt Harvey Committed to Finding Great Leaders

Carter Holt Harvey (CHH) has streamlined its recruitment process by reducing the number of recruitment agencies it uses from 60 to eight.

It has made this move in an effort to ensure that in today’s ever tightening and competitive economy, it finds and attracts great leaders to the company.

Chief executive of CHH’s Mariner7 business Heather Miles says, “it’s no longer enough just to find the most qualified person, an employee with the right attitude and vision actually adds more to the value of the company.”

“We were spreading ourselves thin on the ground by using 60 agencies, bringing the number back to eight gives us significantly more focus to our recruiting process as well as saving us money.”

CHH has selected recruitment agencies that have high fit within the company’s culture, know the business and will bring strategic insight to its HR and line managers. It was also important that the agencies had an understanding of the employment market on both sides of the Tasman and would deliver the results.

CHH’s preferred recruitment suppliers are:
- TMP Worldwide eResourcing
- Robert Walters
- Spherion Recruitment Solutions
- Momentum Consulting Group
- OCG Consulting
- Wallage Recruitment Group
- Tanner Menzies
- Lyncroft Consulting Group

CHH Chief Operating Officer Don Matthews says the company is committed to building leadership capability within the business.

“We firmly believe that excellent leaders are necessary to drive our costs down, manage change, generate new ideas, build new products and services and expand into new territories. In streamlining our recruitment strategy, we are now working with a small number of highly focussed consultants who are engaged in finding employees who will add real value not only to the culture of the business but to the bottom line.”
