Air Pacific Reports $F9.6 Million Profit

Air Pacific has announced an operating profit of $F9.675 million for 2002 compared to a $38.5 million loss in the last financial year.

Air Pacific Board Chairman, Gerald Barrack in announcing the results, said that the May 2000 hostage crisis and the terrorist attacks of September ll in the United States severely affected global aviation causing dramatic reduction in demand, and an increase in costs.

He added that urgent action was taken by Air Pacific to reduce costs and maximise the utilisation of aircraft, and added, "that the financial year has been one of recovery and consolidation of key strategies."
