Trade Network Head Appointed CEO, Forest Industries Council
Trade Liberalisation Network Executive Director Stephen Jacobi has been appointed Chief Executive of the New Zealand Forest Industries Council. Pending the appointment of a successor, Philip Lewin, TLN Board member and Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce CEO, will be Acting Executive Director.
TLN Chairman Brian Lynch paid tribute to Stephen Jacobi’s work at the TLN. “Stephen has put the TLN on the map, building a strong media and public profile and contributing to the development of trade policy at a high level. He is an energetic, persuasive and effective advocate for more open markets internationally. We wish him well in his new role especially as forestry has much to gain from lower trade barriers and more effective trade rules”.
Mr Jacobi was appointed to the TLN on its establishment in October 2001. Mr Lynch said the TLN Board would look for a suitable replacement. Meantime Mr Lewin would ensure continuity in the TLN programme. “Phil Lewin already has a high community profile as CEO of the Wellington Chamber. At the TLN Board level Phil has brought a wealth of experience as a former trade negotiator and diplomat and will draw on this to good effect as he oversees the continuing TLN campaign.”
Mr Jacobi leaves TLN at the end of August and takes up his position at the Forest Industries Council on 2 September.
