SKY Television Board Changes

SKY Network Television Limited (“SKY”) announced today that Tom Mockridge, who is both Chairman of SKY and Chief Executive of Independent Newspapers Limited (“INL”) will be leaving both positions to become Chief Executive of News Corporation’s 50% owned Italian pay television company, Stream.

INL will seek the agreement of the SKY board to Mr Macourt being appointed as a director and Chairman. Mr Macourt is a director of INL, the Chief Operating Officer of the News Limited group of companies in Australia and has extensive experience in pay television operations in Australia.

He joined News in 1983, became Chief Financial Officer in 1995 and was appointed to his current position in 2001. Mr Macourt has been closely associated with News’ Australian pay television interest Foxtel since it was established eight years ago, and is a director both of Foxtel and News’ 50% owned sports channel, Fox Sports.

Mr Mockridge, who was appointed to the SKY position in March 2001, expects to leave New Zealand soon after SKY and INL make their annual result announcements for the year ending 30 June 2002, scheduled for 15 August 2002.
