Shell last to move petrol
prices
Shell New Zealand Retail Manager Bruce Emson said today that Shell was reluctantly following the other major oil companies by raising its petrol and diesel prices by 2 cents per litre.
"The increase is a result of the high oil price amid uncertainty over a US attack on Iraq.
"This follows increases over the last 18 hours by other companies without making any announcements. However Shell is giving motorists until 9am tomorrow morning (Wednesday 18 September) to fill up at the old price, and we are making this announcement to ensure our customers are aware of the increase in advance and have time to fill up.
"This is in contrast to our main competitors, all of whom have already raised their prices, without informing the motorist. This is not how Shell believes a transparent market should operate.
"Shell is committed to bringing New Zealanders the best possible fuel prices, and we will continue to monitor prices daily to ensure we do just that," Mr Emson said.
