Transend Undertakes Work In Jordan

Four people from Transend Worldwide and New Zealand Post are in Jordan carrying out a two-week business evaluation report of Jordan Post.

The contract with Jordan’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is part of an ongoing commercialisation drive to improve Jordan Post’s competitive positioning.

Transend will provide an analysis of the current state of the business and make recommendations for improvements in four areas: marketing and sales; operations; human resources management and postal security.

A preliminary report and presentation will be provided to Jordan Post management on 30 September.

John Allen, Acting Managing Director of Transend, said the assignment was a pleasing step forward in the relationship with Jordan Post.

“Earlier discussions in Wellington and Amman with Jordanian Government Ministers and postal executives had revealed good interest in what Transend could offer. We are very pleased to have been able to respond in this way to the Government’s request for assistance in taking Jordan Post forward.

“We are also pursuing other opportunities to provide consulting services in the Middle East. Earlier work by Transend and New Zealand Post in that region has provided a useful base for us to grow the business further.”

The Jordan Post contract follows a recent visit to Amman by Alan Hunt, Transend Regional Director for Africa and the Middle East, who presented a range of options for the commercialisation of the business.

In July, Transend signed a contract to provide a report on the state of Iran Post and recommendations for improving business performance. Work on the contract will begin in January 2003.
